Our Team

Hey there! I’m Jonathan, but you can call me Jon if that's easier. I’ve been a part of Hillcrest Church since 2022 as the NextGen Pastor. My goal is to create a space where every kid, teen, and young adult can explore their faith and experience Jesus' love and acceptance in a safe, inclusive, supportive, and empowering environment. I know not all churches are able to do that, so I definitely do not take it for granted.

I grew up in the Chicagoland area, attended Bible School in the Pacific Northwest, and then made my way to Canada where I’ve truly fallen in love with Atlantic Canada.

When I am not serving at Hillcrest you can find me deep in research and writing as I am currently working on my Ph.D. in the field of contextual digital ecclesiology.

I’m an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to my Chicago teams. Football is my absolute favourite, having coached and played for several years.

As a person with a multi-ethnic background, I proudly embrace the term “foodie.” I love exploring and enjoying all types of ethnic cuisines, especially Indian, Latin, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Filipino, Taiwanese, Korean, and Singaporean. I also love to cook!
